Hypercom and IDLogix Introduce Touch Screen Age Verification Capability at the Point-of-Sale

Tuesday July 17 by Press Release Submission
Phoenix - Hypercom Corporation (NYSE:HYC), the world's leading provider of electronic payment systems, and IDLogix, a leader in identification authentication software, today introduced an age verification application for use on Hypercom's touch-screen based ICE card payment terminals. The application provides secure age verification based on drivers' license magnetic stripes and barcodes. IDLogix will immediately rollout the application on Hypercom ICE terminals and make it available to banks, processors and merchants nationwide. The application was developed by IDLogix. It can support electronic check conversion with digital imaging, EBT and credit card processing using Hypercom's Visual HDT (VHDT) C++-based developer's software platform.

"Demand for accurate, simple and fast age verification at the point-of-sale has probably never been greater. Law enforcement agencies and communities nationwide are clamping down on those who knowingly, or unknowingly, sell adult products to minors. Over-worked parents, civic organizations and merchants are demanding greater accountability. Responsible merchants want help," said Kathy Crumley, vice president VAR relations, Hypercom Corporation. "Hypercom's ICE terminals with IDLogix software squarely address this growing concern, and finally take the time and guesswork out of age verification. Now, merchants can verify someone's age by simply swiping the consumer's magnetic-stripe driver's license, scanning the 2-D bar code, or keying in the birth date on the license onto Hypercom's ICE card payment terminals equipped with IDLogix software -- and also conduct traditional credit/debit transactions."

"With Hypercom, we are joining with the global leader of electronic payment technologies and products to jointly bring a much-needed application to the retail countertop. We take great pride in being the first identification authorization software provider to offer its application on the Hypercom ICE platform. This will be of enormous benefit to merchants seeking a solution to assist them in complying with the law," said Tony Sdao, president and CEO, The Logix Companies.

Hypercom's epic (ePOS-infocommerce(TM)) ICE devices are high performance, touch screen-based, Internet-enabled card payment terminals and web appliances that incorporate a firewall-protected multi-application operating system, EMV chip card capability, secure PIN pad, built-in HTML/HTTP web browser, and integrated receipt printer.

In addition to the embedded applications, Hypercom's ICE terminals support a range of value-added applications and services including: electronic signature and receipt capture, e-mail, on-screen advertising, interactive electronic coupons, and cash management reporting through a standard browser -- as well as secure credit, debit, and smart card functions. Additionally, Hypercom's VHDT gives software developers the ability to quickly develop or customize applications to best meet the needs of their unique merchant environments.
